Reports to the SoCal Regional Safety Manager based on reporting region and field assignment/location.
Provides expertise, implementation, leadership and coaching during incident investigations, including causal factor determination and corrective actions plans.
Performs safety audits periodically both internally and/or with third party auditors.
Participates in safety committees.
Enter and track safety metrics and information, including the input of incident investigations/corrective actions into our HSSE database software system.
Analyze safety data/trends and make improvement recommendations (create reports, charts, and presentations as necessary).
Function independently, as well as in a team environment.
Daily standard under normal conditions for this position is 75% in the field and 25% in the officeAdministrative review and support of job permits.
Preparation and/or guidance with the daily JHA, pre-use inspections, pre-job hazard assessment and all other pre-job documentation for hazard identification/mitigation - daily implementation of proactive measures for hazard controls identified.
Review JHAs completed by craft personnel for quantity and quality.
Implement proactive steps for improved safety during job walks, observations or audits.
Participate where applicable in contractor safety meetings.
Pre-shift and ongoing work set up and calibration of technical safety equipment (atmospheric monitoring equipment, etc.
).
Provide onsite representation with regards to customer inspections and audits of jobsites.
Monitor and direct employees on the process for substance abuse screens (random and for cause), including providing or coordinating escort to and from the testing facilities/clinic.
Monitor and direct employees to the proper process of maintaining an active approved drivers list for the jobsite.
Direct support of unplanned jobs, incidents and/or customer requests as needed.
Attend meetings as needed to review incidents, inspections, audits, regulatory compliance, client-based concerns, etc.
Collect, archive and when necessary prepare and ship documentation to the proper location based on record retention procedures.
Provide and/or coordinate weekly safety training session based on specifically provided themed topics to crews and supervision at the jobsite.
Monitor the need for and coordinate the action of if needed, site employee training per client and/or regulatory requirements, i.
e.
crane operations, rigging, confined space, site specific training, etc.
Review/discuss with site supervision the results and proactive control measures discovered during site audits.
Collect, summarize and report leading indicator data (including, but not limited to employee observations and leadership observations).
Follow up with any substandard acts/conditions identified during review of all observations.
Collect, summarize and report lagging indicator data Review and reporting (if applicable) to clients the results of site safety audits/inspections.
Provide and/or coordinate additional safety training needs.
Review of relevant safety trend analysis.
Support and coordinate safety incentive programsSupport when applicable based on-site exposures, Workers Compensation Program and case management.
Minimum (5) years' Experience - Degree/certification in Health, Safety and Environmental Management or related science/engineering area preferred; and/or equivalent experience/training leading to the thorough understanding of health, safety and environmental disciplines.
Minimum classes in OSHA 10, 30, 500 and 501.
Experience working on multi-employer worksites with contractors.
Knowledge of governmental HSE standards, rules and regulations.
Knowledge of client best practices and standards utilized in our work environments.
Sound understanding of hazard recognition/mitigation techniquesAbility to work with computers and automated information systems for safety.
Possess training and presentation skills.
Must be able to communicate with all levels of the Company, plant employees, contractors and community.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
